Labor and Employment Attorney The candidate will work with legal matters primarily related to Human Resources, HR and Ethics Compliance, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Compensation and Benefits matters. Will provide advice and counsel regarding various HR related topics to managers and HR professionals on a daily basis for all company locations nationwide for the , Lord and Taylor brands and for Hudson s Bay Company U.S. employees. Assist in establishing, writing, reviewing and revising applicable company policies and procedures, and advise management and the VP, Associate General Counsel on recommended courses of action on various HR topics and disciplines. Respond to attorney letters and other related correspondence, write responses and position statements to federal, state and local civil rights and governmental agencies and may represent the company at various administrative level proceedings. Serve in the management of certain employment litigation matters in accordance with the attorney s skill set and experience level. Draft, review and/or edit, and provide advice and counsel for contracts and agreements the Company may have with Human Resources vendors for services and products. Assist other attorneys throughout the Legal Department on various projects, issues or litigation management. Conduct legal research on various topics as directed. Conduct legal training for managers, supervisors and HR professionals as needed. Provide preventive, proactive legal advice and solutions, provide information on recent legal decisions and precedents to clients, conduct audits on business practices and review as needed. Assist the VP Associate General Counsel in administration and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements. Handle complex and/or sensitive projects, legal problems or issues with supervision by VP, Associate General Counsel and other department attorneys. Respond to basic legal matters in Human Resources functions of the company. Investigate complaints of unfair or inappropriate treatment of employees or alleged illegal conduct. Draft position statements and production responses to government agencies. Provide daily counsel to HR professionals and managers throughout the organization. Assist the VP Associate General Counsel with various matters as assigned. Advocate for the company in interactions with opposing counsel. Assist HR with implementation of company initiatives and goals and support the company s High Performance Culture goals and processes. Pro-actively participate in issues outside of areas of direct accountability to learn and grow in position and department. Provide support to the General Counsel and other legal team members on various projects, initiatives, and investigations, including those unrelated to employment law matters.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree. Should be a Member in good standing of the Bar. Must have 3+ years of experience including litigation exposure or comparable experience in employment law areas. Direct experience in legal matters related to employment law and employee relations essential. Experience of working with or in governmental agencies (federal or state), and litigation experience or management of litigation matters is preferred. Prior in-house experience is a plus. Exposure to traditional labor matters is a plus. Knowledge and understanding of the business concerns facing large employers in current legal climate essential.
