Associate Legal Counsel, Litigation The candidate provides legal representation and specializes primarily in litigation. Provides legal advice and services in matters of substantial importance to the operations of the Company. Protects the organizations rights in negotiations, settlements, and litigation. Ensures compliance with laws and regulations. Determines and executes legal strategies for assigned cases. Counsels and renders legal opinions, memoranda and recommendations helpful to management. Examines pending or current legislation and advises appropriate persons of pertinent court and administrative decisions. Represents the Company's interests before the courts, administrative bodies and other outside groups.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor degree. A Law license in Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia required. Should have 5+ years of progressive legal experience after receiving law degree with demonstrated skills in workers compensation (added for posting), litigation and corporate matters. Experience of specializing in general litigation cases, including preparing for trial, defending or taking depositions, and/or actual trial experience, preferably in civil cases essential. Experience of successfully negotiating legal agreements and resolving disputes with a high degree of discretion and trust needed. Demonstrated knowledge of several legal disciplines preferred. Computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to share, retrieve, research and present business and legal information skills essential.
