VP Specialized Law Duties: Responsible for the general management of the Specialized Law organization, specifically focusing on sales, marketing, product development and strategy. Responsible for the creation of the overall Specialized Law strategy and the strategies for the different sub-segments that make up the organization. Creates operating plans that support the strategies and manages the organizations resources to ensure performance is in alignment with targets and consistent with plans. Creates operating plans that support the strategies and ensures activities of key functional organizations such as sales, marketing and product development are aligned with the strategy. Oversees the development of annual budgets and manages the organizations resources to ensure that performance is in alignment with approved budgets. Manages the resources of the organization to ensure performance is optimized and consistent with targets. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of customer needs and business dynamics within the market segments through active and frequent interaction with clients, sales teams, industry associations. Develops sales channel strategies and participates in determining territory and coverage models to optimize sales performance in each segment. Maximizes revenue performance and opportunities across all solution lines. Ensures the Managing Director and employees have sufficient and up-to-date information about the performance of the business and other information which is necessary to effectively perform their duties. Develops future leaders within the organization. Ensures the organization operates in accordance with all laws and regulations and promotes a culture that reflects the overall values of ReedElsevier.

Qualifications: MBA and/or JD, or equivalent experience in business and law. 10-12 years related technical and professional experience. Experience within the legal and professional services industry, e.g. as a management consultant, practicing attorney, law firm or corporate legal consultant, law firm or law department administrator, law firm marketer, senior manager within a legal technology or services company, or in a similar role. Skills required include business and financial acumen, strategic planning, organizational assessment, creativity, highly developed leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills, quantitative analytical abilities and outstanding communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. Ability to lead and manage in a matrix organization is critical.
