EVP, Head of Litigation The candidate will be responsible for leading the Litigation and Workout (L&W) Division of company with the primary objective of defending the company against significant litigation and enforcement actions, primarily in a supervisory capacity with some direct participation in crucial aspects of significant litigation such as setting litigation strategy, mediation, negotiation, trial preparation, briefing, and oral argument preparation. Leads by example, demonstrating high energy, integrity, and influence management in all professional interactions. Maintain regular contact with the attorneys responsible for significant individual matters, as well as advise and collaborate with the Company's senior leaders concerning these significant matters. Prepare Litigation Reports for board of directors, senior management, business line leaders and regulators. Primary responsibility for considering and setting reserves for the Company's legal loss contingencies. Represent the Company on industry and government efforts related to reserves and the disclosure of litigation. Serve as primary interface with external and internal auditors on litigation and reserve issues. Meet with regulators regarding Company's litigation and claims processes and pending and threatened litigation. Represent the Company on trade association litigation and enforcement initiatives. Responsible for reporting of legal operational losses under Basel capital rules. Executive Sponsor of corporate initiatives involving legal claims, alternative dispute resolution and similar issues. Participate on bar association committees where Company's interests are significant. Participate in company reputation efforts. Lead outside counsel spend management initiatives. Responsible for training the Department on issues surrounding privilege, work product and internal investigations.

The candidate should have Juris Doctorate. State Bar membership is required. Should have 10+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and 4+ years of management experience. Must have experience leading and managing multiple legal divisions and managers with staff representation across multiple geographic locations. Must have experience in managing a budget. Should have significant experience providing legal advice and support on litigation process and strategy, financial reserves and risk and regulatory issues. Should have excellent written and oral communication and negotiating skills. Must have proven client relationship and interpersonal skills, including the ability to give correct, valuable, and trusted advice to clients and colleagues on legal and regulatory questions. Must have proven ability to work well with federal and state regulators to effectively represent the interests of company. Should have ability to lead and motivate staff to prioritize work. Must have ability to make complex decisions. Ability to develop and execute business vision, strategies and goals to achieve corporate objectives and participate as a member of the Legal Group senior management team is needed. Must have ability to develop and maintain effective relationships within and across business lines at all levels of the organization. Should have demonstrated ability to: Communicate complex fact patterns and legal and regulatory issues and requirements in a credible and convincing manner. Manage and lead a large team of legal professionals. Adapt quickly to a changing environment while building relationships and negotiating for desired outcomes. Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Understand complex business activities and operations. Develop effective, influential, and trusted relationships with business leaders. Should have leadership strength, with the ability to motivate others to perform well under challenging circumstances. Must have strong collaboration and partnering skills, with the ability to work across business and geographic barriers, and across multiple teams within the Law department. Must demonstrate organization and political savvy and ability to successfully lead and influence in a large and complex environment. Should have proven success in building and leading a team of high performing professionals, motivating and mobilizing both direct and matrixed teams, and experience directly and indirectly managing a large geographically dispersed team. Must be able to rapidly earn credibility, respect, and consensus through strategic vision, and exceptional listening and communication skills. Should possess creativity and innovation that is applied to a strategic approach to the process of litigation and the strategy for large individual matters.
