Senior Litigation Attorney The candidate will manage all of the departments litigation, including constitutional, civil rights, labor and employment, torts, contract, construction, open records and infrastructure litigation. The attorney will also be responsible for advising leadership on litigation matters and will coordinate media strategy. Will manage all in-house and outside litigation counsel and direct case strategy, including discovery, briefing, settlement negotiations, alternative dispute resolution and trial. Coordinate with multiple departments to identify root causes of litigation and devise litigation prevention strategies. Will also involve extensive contact with leadership from other governing bodies of several other municipalities. The candidate must have a J.D. and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Excellent academic and professional references required. Should have 10 years of litigation experience to work in the litigation practice group of a municipal legal department. Must have experience managing outside counsel, senior and junior attorneys, paralegals and other legal administrative staff. Must have superior written and oral communication skills and must demonstrate exceptional judgment, professionalism and the interpersonal skills necessary to lead complex litigation matters in a fast-paced environment.Applicants with prior experience representing a municipality, other governmental/quasi-governmental entity are strongly encouraged to apply.
