Employment Counsel Candidate will manage legal business matters pertaining to particular business units. Provides a variety of general contract and commercial legal services to a number of in-house clients. Reviews legal data and advises organization on appropriate legal action to be taken. Coordinates legal matters handled by outside counsel. Provides day-to-day preventive counseling and compliance advice to Human Resources professionals and line of business executives. Partners with HR and Senior Management to draft and maintain policies, agreements and other documents related to the Company s employment practices. Provides legal support and responses to federal and state agencies regarding wage and hour issues and employment matters. Provides advice and counsel regarding potential employee disciplinary actions and wage and hour issues. Assists in the management of general employment litigation and outside counsel including coordinating and directing case strategy, discovery, drafting and editing briefs, interviewing and preparing witnesses and negotiations. Conducts training for managers and supervisors on a wide variety of employment related topics such as discrimination and harassment avoidance and wage/hour compliance. Investigates and responds to charges of employment discrimination filed with external enforcement agencies. Engages and actively manages outside counsel with respect to employment litigation. Reviews and revises employment related provisions of customer and vendor agreements and other transactional documents. Reviews and responds to subpoenas and other requests for employment records. Reviews advance sheets, newsletters and other periodicals to remain current with developments in employment law. Manages other projects as required or assigned.

Candidate should have a Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to practice law in the appropriate jurisdiction. 4-6 years relevant labor/employment experience including law firm and/or in-house position(s) is required. Demonstrated proficiency in employment litigation is preferred. Should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
