General Counsel, Senior Vice President of Compliance Duties: Will be responsible for oversight of company's compliance management system, including fair lending compliance, and will serve as general counsel. SVP Legal and compliance will be responsible for oversight of company's state, federal, and local regulatory compliance issues. In this role, counsel will stay abreast of regulatory guidelines and advise management and staff on best practices. SVP will interact with regulators and auditors as needed in the oversight of internal and external audits. Maintain oversight of company licensing. Review and approve contracts with vendors and 3rd parties. Oversee the compliance management system for company. Work closely with senior management and department managers in the task of overseeing and guiding the decision-making and implementation of compliance policies and advising about risk management. Provide support and advice to Human Resources regarding a variety of employment issues. Provide reports to senior management on compliance issues. Oversee company's Fair Lending Program and compliance with fair and equal treatment laws and regulations. Coordinate fair lending analysis reviews to determine compliance and mitigate risk. Monitor business processes, including relevant HMDA data, that identifies fair lending issues/potential weaknesses, and proactively recommend appropriate changes to existing programs and processes as needed. Establish and monitor ongoing training programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and company policies and procedures. Supervise team of compliance attorneys and other compliance staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements: A Law degree from an accredited law school. Must have 5+ years of recent experience as a lawyer in the mortgage industry, familiar with recent changes in both state and federal lending laws. Experience reviewing and revising policies and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance. Strong analytical skills, with ability to resolve complex problems. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
