Principal Advisor, Government & Regulatory Affairs Duties: Represents before federal government agencies, the U.S. Congress & Administration, providing government officials with the information they need to enact smart public policies. Monitors, analyzes and provides legislative updates to the Company, while developing and driving strategies for key corporate policy initiatives. Serve as a primary lobbyist for advancing the Company s policy goals and capital investment projects and programs. Involves and prepares Company executives in legislative proceedings and external leadership positioning opportunities. Monitor, analyze and provide legislative updates on market conditions, coalition efforts and regulatory changes to determine potential impacts to Edison International (EIX) operations or positions. Utilize consultants and trade associations to convey the EIX position and seek intelligence to support favorable legislative outcomes at a national level. Develop and drive strategies for key corporate policy initiatives, while leading and managing strategy efforts that include; working with federal agency teams, outside legal counsel, lobbyists & legislative/industry leaders to ensure that the company s strategic priorities will result in positive outcomes at legislative and regulatory levels. Serves as a lobbyist for advancing EIX policy goals and capital investment projects and programs. Creates coalitions with industry, advocacy groups, community organizations and trade associations to advocate for favorable legislation and policies. Works with members of Congress and federal agencies on all regulatory and legislative issues impacting EIX, including assisting congressional offices in drafting legislation and securing bi-partisan co-sponsors, as well as monitoring the development & implementation of federal regulations. Prepares EIX executives in legislative proceedings and external leadership positioning opportunities, while leading, coordinating and preparing the EIX position in testimony and regulatory filings. Plans and coordinates congressional and fundraising events.

Qualifications: bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy or related discipline. Must have 7+ years of public affairs experience, including federal and/or lobbying experience. Excellent, engaging, and persuasive communication / presentation skills (oral & written); both 1:1 and large audience. Experience in cross functional team management with internal and external resources. Successful at leading projects across a matrixed organization and driving change. Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of effective collaboration and cross-functional alignment. Broad knowledge of Company and department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; discipline or function being managed; applicable governmental laws and regulations. MBA or J.D. Degree preferred. 7 years of congressional staff or federal experience preferred. 7 years of lobbying or advocacy experience on behalf of energy companies or energy trade associations preferred.
