Business Development Manager, IP Licensing The candidate will liaise with senior leadership to discern, craft, and help execute strategic initiatives involving Intellectual Property (patents, brand, copyright) as an important component. Will develop and advocate for licensing initiatives that constitute strategic engagements for the business units. Manage all aspects of Technology, brand and patent licensing program life cycles, from opportunity identification to closing value-added, critical licensing deals for company. Gather information regarding corporate structures, Industry alliances, and customer relationships of candidate licensees. Comprehend and interpret Financial, Marketing, competitive intelligence and other business information, including understanding the candidate licensee's business strategies, decision making processes/hierarchies, as well as the personalities and motivations of decision-makers and deal negotiators. Research information relating to the products and services of candidate licensees to determine the applicability of company's IP, brand, and technologies to the candidate's Product road map - information that would help company understand how the candidate licensees might respond to valuing company's offer of license. Comprehend a potential licensee's Product lines and apply company's IP including Technology, know-how and patents for synergy. Accurately and clearly communicate how licensees may utilize the company Technology or can benefit from it. Marshal internal company resources (technical, business, Legal) from various organizations to lead or participate in virtual teams doing strategic IP-involved deals including acquisitions, cross-licenses, trademark use, divestments, and so on. Effectively negotiate with business and Legal leaders of third parties for profitable closure of deals. Will craft Intellectual Property strategies to directly advance critical business unit objectives, and successfully negotiate complex agreements with Executive level professionals in the areas of Engineering, business, and law.

The candidate should have a technical undergraduate degree. A law degree with emphasis or experience in Intellectual Property transactions is preferred. An MBA or equivalent experience is desired. Must have 5+ years of Business Development team Leader experience and proven track record in pursuing and closing deals, preferably involving Intellectual Property. Should have an ability to communicate complex deal architectures and value propositions at all Management levels. Must have proven background working in the field of Intellectual Property licensing including: Technology licensing, trade secrets, copyrights, and patents. Specific knowledge of company's enterprise businesses, including storage, servers and networking is preferred. Special knowledge and experience in the field of Intellectual Property licensing, patent processes, and Intellectual Property strategy is desired.
