California - Patent Litigation Counsel

Mountain View CA Patent Litigation Counsel
The candidate will manage lawsuits and third party disputes involving intellectual property issues, focusing mainly on patent disputes but including other areas such as trademark and copyright. Will partner with outside counsel and be very involved in litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions, taking and defending depositions, and attending and participating in mediation and hearings. Work closely with various legal group members having substantive knowledge relevant to particular disputes. Partner with outside counsel to take an active role in litigation and third party disputes, determining dispute resolution strategies. Draft pleadings and discovery requests, take and defend depositions, and develop the infrastructure required to prevent disputes from arising.

The candidate should be licensed to practice law in California. Undergraduate degree in computer or electrical engineering or computer science is preferred. USPTO admission is preferred. Experience with strategically addressing legal complaints, writing re-exams, and experience with (and understanding of) the online industry is desired. Oversee training programs designed to educate active employees and new hires on Gas records and information management policies and procedures and coordinate with the Enterprise Records Management initiative to align on procedures. Ensure applicable gas records management and gas records retention schedules are updated, centralized and easily accessible to all gas operations employees. Manage Gas Records information lifecycle, working closely with the Integrity Management and other Gas Operations departments. Provide guidance and leadership in areas of physical paper digitization, database development, taxonomy, security, workflow and reporting in Documentum, and definition of appropriate disposition checks and procedures. Act as the Process Owner for records management. Manage associated budgeting and planning components. Manage and maintain a gas Electronically Stored Information (ESI) Map and measure compliance with the Records & Information Management Program. The candidate should have a B.A./B.S. degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, public policy, library and information systems, information technology, legal studies, or related discipline. Master's degree (Business/Finance/Economics, IT, or Library and Information Systems) would be preferred. Records Management Degree/Certificate, J.D., Paralegal Certificate or IT/IS degree a plus. Must have 10 years of related experience including 8 years of experience managing the design, development, implementation and governance of an enterprise records and information management program. Should have an expert understanding of ARMA International's Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles (GARP), US DOD 5015.02, ISO 15489, and other relevant RIM industry guidelines.
