A world leader in consumer, paper, packaging and building products seeks Chief Counsel with 12 years of practice experience with the following specific experiences preferred: 3 years of experience managing other attorneys; 5 year's experience in procurement/sourcing contracting preferably for a manufacturer, supplier or engineering/construction company. The candidate will lead a legal team supporting the procurement activities of the company's Strategic Sourcing Group in Atlanta, Georgia as well as procurement activities at all of the company's domestic operating locations. Responsibilities: Provide legal advice and counsel to procurement professionals based in Atlanta and in the company's many operating locations. Draft and/or review various procurement contracts, manage the legal aspects of respective business transactions. Develop an understanding of business requirements behind each procurement contract and actively participate in negotiations of such contracts. Propose, develop and monitor preventive law and compliance programs to reduce company exposure to legal risk in all procurement contracts. Direct assigned resources to insure timely completion of contracts and the most cost efficient utilization of in-house and outside legal resources. Continuously strengthen the company's negotiating position while concurrently minimizing the company's risk in all of its procurement activities. A J.D. and active Bar Membership required. Should have superior leadership and client service skills. Excellent writing, communication, and negotiation skills as well as excellent professional credentials are required.
