Corporate Attorney - Infrastructure

Omaha NE Corporate Attorney - Infrastructure The candidate report to the Deputy General Counsel, Infrastructure. Consult with management, commercial advisors, tax experts, accountants and marketing staff. Analyze complicated legal documents; revise those documents. Help with compliance and corporate governance issues. Draft and negotiate company contracts, requests for proposals and other legal documents. Keep informed of industry-specific regulations and ensuring that appropriate risk management strategies are in place. Support development of policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs. Research the law on complex issues and writing a brief for submission to a supervising attorney or executive of the organization. Meet with company management to provide recommendations on compliance matters and current legal issues within the company. Manage outside counsel and litigation to ensure effectiveness and agreement of outside counsel with goals. Advise on employment matters and provide guidance for compliance. Negotiate with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes, including settlement conferences. Anticipate and reduce potential legal problems within the organization and developing strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk. Support development and communication of policies and procedures for our standard of legal and ethical conduct. Coordinate with other members of the legal department to provide reports to keep the board and senior management informed of the progress and status of the compliance program, and advising them of new developments in ethics and regulatory compliance. Coordinate with the human resources department to develop a compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees and ongoing training for existing staff. Labor And Employment Counsel

Omaha NE Labor and Employment Counsel the candidate will identify legal risks and provide legal advice and guidance on various labor and employment law matters including, but not limited to, non-discrimination; non-harassment; health and safety; wage and hour laws; union avoidance; as well as hiring, discipline and termination matters. Handle EEOC charges, position statements, and other state-equivalent charges, Department of Labor inquiries, FLSA reviews, and other regulatory audits. Provide practical, compliant, and strategic advice and counsel on issues arising under the FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, OSHA, NLRB, and other federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Manage disputes, litigation, including class action litigation and litigation brought directly by the EEOC and other adversarial proceedings related to employment law matters. Provide legal counsel and advice on U.S. immigration laws and manage immigration matters relating to the Company's foreign nationals with the assistance of outside counsel. Provide legal counsel and advice on international employment law matters, including, employment law matters arising in Canada, Mexico and India, with the assistance of outside counsel. Assist the Human Resources Department in reviewing and implementing compliance training programs as such programs relate to applicable labor and employment laws and regulations. Draft and maintain employment-related documents, policies and procedures. Monitor proposed employment law legislation and regulations and provide timely updates to the General Counsel and the Human Resources Department. Advise on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion issues. Advise other members of the Legal Department, upon request, with respect to areas of employment law expertise.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Should have 5+ years of legal experience working as a labor and employment attorney in either an in-house or law firm setting. Strong understanding of U.S. labor and employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, NLRA, FMLA, FLSA, and federal immigration laws. Admission to a U.S. State Bar with an active license and in good standing. Outstanding client-service focus and technical mastery to convey complex legal principles clearly and concisely in order to develop solutions and facilitate executive decision-making. Ability to adjust to multiple demands in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Resilient, results-oriented, and collaborative. Unquestioned integrity and professionalism. Occasional travel as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
