Senior Counsel Corporate & Securities

Manager - Indirect Tax - Vertex, Sabrix Implemention
The candidate will manage day to day interactions with executive clients and sponsors. Will lead engagement planning and budgeting; mobilize and manage engagement teams; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client; direct on-time, quality delivery of work products; manage engagement economics; and manage engagement risk. Develop practical solutions and methodologies; develop 'thought-ware' and 'point-of-view' documents; participate in public speaking events; and get published in industry periodicals. Perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities; and provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices.

The candidate should have Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field. Advanced degree such as MST, J.D. or LL.M. preferred. CPA a plus. Must have 5+ years of experience with: corporate, multistate, indirect or value-added tax (income tax compliance, FAS109, reporting, transaction tax compliance, etc.). Experience with a Big 4 firm, large corporate tax department of a multinational company, or large ERP integration is preferred. Strong interest in and aptitude for technology (Vertex, Sabrix etc.) is needed. Experience with tax technology applications (Vertex, Sabrix, Taxware, or Oracle Enterprise Business Tax) required. Experience in ERP system implementations preferred. Ability for heavy travel needed.

The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of projects as well as technology and provision consultation in the delivery of provision process and technology projects to Tax System clients. Primary responsibilities include managing large technology projects involving multiple team members from TMC, other areas within company, and the client, implementing tax technology tools, guiding clients through their selection of software packages, assisting clients with their evaluation of their current processes and data flow surrounding tax technology tools and helping them implement improvements, training clients on how to use the tax technology tools implemented, and supporting clients with their use of tax technology tools. Supervise the assignments carried out by tax consultants and tax senior consultants. Have the responsibility to help develop and motivate engagement staff and provide them with leadership, counseling and career guidance. Identify and effectively communicate tax technical and service issues to the senior management team, including Partners, Principals, Directors and Senior Managers. Exhibit extensive technical skills and have developed a reputation in a given industry or service line offering.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related area. Double major, concentration or advanced degree in information management or information systems a plus. Advanced degree like MST, MAC or LL.M. preferred. CPA, Enrolled Agent or other professional certification a plus. Must have 5+ years of corporate tax or tax technology experience. Should have experience in ASC 740 (FAS 109), Accounting for Income Taxes and/or experience with tax provision and compliance software such as Corptax, Longview Tax, OneSource Tax Provision (formerly TaxStream), PowerTax, and Vertex. Big 4 or tax software firm experience or equivalent. Flexibility for extensive travel is needed.
