Staff Attorney, Litigation Manager

Southfield MI Staff Attorney, Litigation Manager Duties: Engage outside counsel and manage their work in accordance with Company expectations. Resolve pre-litigation disputes involving consumers, motor vehicle dealers, employees, vendors, service providers, and other third parties. Perform legal research on assigned topics; provide counsel to the business; and, if necessary, draft Legal Position Papers on various topics. Support additional corporate legal requests. Assess the facts and law applicable to various disputes. Provide clear, concise and accurate guidance to the Company on how to respond to various disputes. Work closely with outside counsel to achieve the best possible outcomes. Periodic performance feedback from team members throughout the organization will be sought and will be considered when assessing your performance.

Associate General Counsel - Litigation

Lansing MI Associate General Counsel - Litigation The candidate will be valued member of the Litigation and Investigations team. Provides advice to internal departments on various issues, including in the areas of potential litigation claims, investigations, regulatory enforcement and sensitive customer complaints, and is responsible for devising strategy and actively handling and managing complex litigation matters. Develops substantive position and strategy, and actively handles pending and threatened litigation, arbitration, investigations and regulatory enforcement matters, and reports on certain matters. Handles all phases of litigation- both affirmatively and defensively- including complaint, discovery, expert testimony and trial. Responds to demand letters. Should have Significant experience handling complex litigation in all forums, including first or second chair trial experience and working with expert witnesses in complicated matters. Must have successful track record of early case resolution. Successful track record of creating or improving existing litigation processes is required. should have ability to formulate and execute effective strategies to reduce risk and apply consistency throughout the Company's litigation function. Must have experience with internal investigations, shareholder demands and actions and regulatory enforcement actions. Experience with international investigations/cases, affirmative recovery actions, employment actions, or broker-dealer litigation/arbitrations a plus. Must have excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, presentation, analytical and problem solving skills. should have ability to effectively interact with all internal and external business partners, and exercise independent judgment. Must have ability to take a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives in order to achieve strategic business results.
