Counsel, Litigation

New York City NY Counsel, Litigation The candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, as well as providing day-to-day legal advice to various business units within the company. Litigation matters are likely to include a variety of disputes in different subject areas, as well as responding to third-party subpoenas and government requests. Developing case strategy in partnership with business units and driving cost-effective resolution of litigation disputes. Managing outside counsel. Legal research and writing for matters where outside counsel is deemed unnecessary (e.g., responses to demand letters, position statements, etc.). Reviewing, revising and approving pleadings and motions and attending court hearings and depositions. Coordinating discovery, including collection and production of materials. Providing legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of pre-litigation issues arising from business-as-usual activities. Keeping management and business units apprised of litigation developments and strategy, Required education: JD from an ABA accredited law school and admitted to relevant state bar. Preferred background: litigation generalist with some experience in one or more of the subject matter areas of securities, employment, intellectual property, antitrust, and internal investigations. New York City NY Litigation Attorney The candidate will report to the Senior Managing Director, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Will act as primary internal counsel for all litigation matters concerning the firm. Commercial Litigation Counsel

Buffalo NY Commercial Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for representing the organization in litigation matters for assigned business units. Collaborate with outside legal counsel on legal matters. Provide strategic legal advice and opinion to the organization and answer day-to-day questions from business personnel. Provide guidance and support for existing products, new product design, geographic expansion, etc. in an effort to assist in developing increased efficiency and profitability, taking into account all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Represent the organization in litigation matters for assigned businesses or bank functions. Draft and review business and legal documents to include regulatory disclosures, marketing material, licensing statutes and insure the bank and its subsidiaries are appropriately licensed. Lead in the development and interpretation of departmental policies. Research and review existing law and make recommendations regarding new procedures and policies. Provide strategic advice on legal aspects of acquisitions / divestitures using legal and business judgment and experience. Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the brand. Must have J.D. from an accredited law school. 4+ years previous experience as an attorney or other relevant experience is necessary. New York State or applicable state Bar admission is required.
