Assistant General Counsel, Wholesale Litigation - Asset & Wealth Management, Vice President

Plano TX Assistant General Counsel, Wholesale Litigation - Asset & Wealth Management, Vice President Duties: Develop and implement litigation strategy on novel and complex legal issues related primarily to the Firm's Asset & Wealth Management businesses, work with the business to identify and mitigate litigation risks, and respond to non-routine third-party subpoenas for information and testimony. Work independently, collaboratively with other members of the Legal team, and, when appropriate, partner with outside counsel. Work related to the Firm's Corporate & Investment Bank and Corporate functions.

Qualifications: JD degree. In compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment. 5+ years of litigation experience in complex commercial matters in state and federal courts, with significant experience in financial services industry disputes and with complex financial products and services. Significant experience with investment advisor/asset manager litigation, trust and estates litigation, and/or FINRA arbitrations is a plus. Experience with bankruptcy, securities, banking, and/or mergers and acquisitions litigation is preferred. Experience preparing witnesses for depositions and defending depositions is a plus. Major law firm experience is an asset. Ability to assume significant independent responsibility immediately with minimal oversight and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex and time-intensive matters simultaneously. Austin TX Counsel - Global Litigation and Investigations Responsibilities: Identifying, assessing, and managing litigation risk in all aspects of the company's business, including new product and technology development, M&A and JV activity, and commercial contract negotiations. This includes counseling and/or partnering with other members of Legal and Compliance Organization, including commercial, IP, and M&A counsel, to advise business stakeholders on litigation risk to inform strategic business decisions. Desired Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school and currently admitted to practice law in one or more US jurisdictions. 4-6 years of experience in IP litigation at a top-tier law firm. Experience with complex investigations and general, commercial, and/or IP litigation in state or federal courts. Experience interviewing (or deposing) individuals in both fact-finding and oppositional settings. Experience counseling on contract terms related to dispute resolution and IP protection. Ability to assess litigation risk, engage in early case assessment, and leverage strategies for cost reduction and pre-litigation dispute resolution. Ability to work both independently and within a team to manage litigation and conduct investigations, and ability to gain the trust of business stakeholders to achieve the desired objective. Bonus Qualifications: Substantive trial, arbitration, and/or adversarial administrative proceeding experience. Dallas TX Patent Litigation Attorney The candidate will be performing early case evaluations and providing on-going case updates. Accurately evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of all aspects of patent litigation matters. Ascertaining which matters require outside counsel and retaining, managing, and evaluating such outside counsel. Handling matters internally that do not require outside resources. Preparing and maintaining budgets for litigation matters. Working with TI business managers and engineers to ensure that TI's interests are protected and represented in various litigation and claims matters. Reviewing and in some cases drafting patent litigation documents, including discovery, pleadings, motions, pre-trial and trial materials. Preparing witnesses for testimony at deposition, hearings, and trial. Representing TI in various mediation and other dispute resolution proceedings. Evaluating and responding to subpoenas. The candidate should have a law degree and 6+ years of litigation experience, with significant exposure to patent or other intellectual property disputes. Must be registered as a patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Must be admitted in good standing with a state legal bar. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, judgment, legal writing, and communication skills to advise effectively at all levels of the organization, including senior managers. A self-starter and able to work effectively with minimal supervision. A team player is willing to provide cross-functional support and cover for other team members. Technical background in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Experience in the Eastern District of Texas and the International Trade Commission is preferred.
