Senior Counsel, Litigation And Insured Claims

Jupiter FL Senior Counsel, Litigation and Insured Claims Duties: Manage, investigate and suggest resolution for employee claims, complaints and reports. Support the Managing Counsel of Litigation in managing litigation and claims for the NA Region and driving initiatives to improve process. Provide advice and counsel to ensure that injured employees receive appropriate care and are able to return to work if possible. Litigation Counsel The candidate will manage commercial litigation (including contract claims, bankruptcy-related litigation, class actions, and other business disputes) and extra contractual/bad faith claims involving the Company. Manage employment litigation, mainly consisting of individual arbitrations. Also manage class or collective actions filed in court and/or statutory/regulatory actions filed in a federal or state administrative agency. On all litigated matters, select and supervise outside counsel; review all pleadings, motions, and other papers; coordinate discovery responses; and prepare Company witnesses for deposition and trial testimony. Work with other Company employees and outside counsel on all appeals in all jurisdictions. Coordinate dispute and litigation management with internal business partners and other firms lawyers to ensure consistency with business operations, strategies, and goals. Provide clear, practical, and strategic advice in timely fashion. Identify litigation trends and counsel business clients and other legal staff regarding opportunities to address those trends. Provide training to internal business partners on a wide variety of litigation-related topics.

The candidate must have 7+ years of commercial litigation experience with law firm and/or insurance company. Should have substantial experience litigating employment matters, general insurance litigation, and/or extra-contractual disputes will be a plus. Excellent analytical and communication skills; superior writing ability is required. Should have Juris Doctor degree from an accredited United States law school. Should be licensed to practice law in the United States. Should have undergraduate degree from an accredited United States or foreign university or college.
