Florida - Senior Director - International Tax Services

Miami FL Senior Director - International Tax Services
The candidate will work with current and prospective multinational clients to develop long-term, sustainable effective tax rate (ETR) solutions. Will lead brainstorming and other technical sessions intended to understand a client or prospective client's international tax architecture. Proficiently research technical issues arising from such brainstorming sessions. Analyze tax and financial data and model ETR impact. Keep current with tax practices and changes in the tax law having a direct impact on current and prospective clients. Market international tax services to existing and potential clients. Draft and assist in the delivery of proposals and other client presentations. Provide and review written and oral advice to clients serving a range of industries. Mentor and supervise tax professionals serving as Associates, Senior Associates and Directors. Liaise with Tax and affiliates across the globe to market international tax services.

The candidate should preferably have a Master's degree in Taxation or J.D./LL.M. degree. Should be either a CPA or admitted to a United States Bar. Must have 8+ years of international tax experience gained in law firm, industry or Big Four. Significant equivalent expertise in federal taxation will be considered. Should have prior experience with some or all of the following international tax planning areas: Outbound transactions and Subpart F, Inbound Transactions, Check the Box , Tax Treaty Issues, Repatriation, Foreign Tax Credit Planning, Global Cash Utilization and Accounting for Income Taxes. Compliance experience a plus. Willingness to travel is needed.

The candidate will assist on large projects. Tax consulting includes performing tax research and working with clients on tax matters as well as planning and implementing special projects. Responsible for the compliance function on clients including preparation and technical review of corporate, partnership and personal income tax returns. Work will include preparation and review of client tax calculations and returns, management of client tax relationships and supervising and developing staff. Assist with implementation of tax planning and tax savings strategies. Research and consult on tax matters. Manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment.
The candidate should have a B.S. degree in Accounting. A Master's in Taxation or LL.M. is a plus. CPA or eligibility to sit for CPA is needed. Must have 2+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or corporate/public blend. Should have consolidated C-Corp, FAS 109, FIN 48, partnership, S-Corp, Individual and/or multi-state experience. Experience with tax technology is a plus.

The candidate will act as a firmwide resource for International Tax research and consulting, but will be principally managed out of the South Florida practice. Will perform research and draft memoranda which will then be reviewed by International Tax partners or Directors prior to being released to clients or used for internal purposes outside of the International Tax Group. Research and prepare memoranda on areas of international tax. Assist International Tax Partners in various projects, including structuring international operations, international tax due diligence projects, International tax provision review, etc. Review international tax information reporting forms, including Forms 5471, 5472, 8865, 8858, TDF 90-22.1, etc. Assist and support the sales process for potential new clients with international operations. Delegate lower level research to staff and review that research. Mentor staff on appropriate research and documentation techniques. Assist in the preparation of presentations on international tax topics as part of firmwide training and/or firm sponsored CPE presentations. Prepare articles on international tax topics to be published on the firm's website and in firm publications. Tax provision preparation and review.
The candidate should have CPA. Law degree and LL.M. preferred. Must have 5+ years of experience in public accounting or law firm, with at least three years working in the international tax area. Knowledge of RIACheckpoint, BNA, Onesource RS and Onesource Tax Provision would also be very helpful. International tax structuring experience required. Travel will principally be within the South Florida area, with only occasional travel to other locations. Ability to speak Spanish and/or Portuguese would be helpful.
