Charlotte NC Attorney - Employment & Benefits Duties: Provide day to day employment law legal advice and counsel to Human Resources for Consumer Bank, Small Business Banking and Military Banking. Manage threatened and filed employment related litigation to the Consumer Bank, Small Business Banking, Military Banking. Partner with Human Resources on enterprise wide initiatives and projects. Provide guidance and direction on policies and procedures and employee relations issues. Partner with Corporate Audit, Internal Enterprise Investigations and Employee Relations Investigations Group on various matters involving employee conduct and behavior. Promote and advise on diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the consumer lines of businesses. Draft and present training and advisory material on numerous employment law topics. Serve as subject matter expert for HR legal team on various subject matters within the labor and employment law realm. Partner with other Control Partners (Compliance, Risk) in properly advising Human Resources on legal and compliance risks. Demonstrate leadership in our communities through support of and personal participation in robust pro bono and/or community service programs. Enterprise Description: Provides general legal counsel on employment and benefits related matters, as well as specific advice on products, services and certain legal actions. Reviews legal contracts and documents. Directly, or through staff, conducts legal research. May represent the bank in legal actions. Individuals in this position typically have a minimum of six years of experience since admission to the Bar.

Requirements: Must have JD and at least one state Bar admission (active/good standing). 7-10 years of practicing with some experience or all in the area of labor and employment law. Analytical skills and strong communications skills a requirement. Ability to assess legal and other types of risks and enable Company to meet its business needs while appropriately managing risks. Strong project and time management skills. Ability to work independently. Superior communication and writing skills. Experience working in highly collaborative environments with an emphasis on teamwork and consensus building. DESIRED SKILLS: Experience with leaves of absence, accommodations and employee relations.

Should have active State Bar membership. Should have 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney. 5 years of employment law experience is preferred. Should have knowledge of and extensive experience in state and federal employment laws and regulations. Should have knowledge and experience with handling employment law matters at all litigation stages, including the administrative agency process, Must be able to assume responsibility quickly and have the ability to work in a complex environment requiring a high degree of collaboration. Class action litigation and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority experience is preferred. Cary NC Legal Counsel - Employment Law The candidate will independently perform a full range of employment and other legal services as assigned and provide support to senior attorneys as requested. Will work closely with domestic and international Human Resources and Legal colleagues to address a variety of international issues, including but not limited to, hiring, dismissal, compensation plan changes and other change management, pay equity and overtime compliance, works councils/trade unions issues, and other global issues which may arise. This includes an ability to efficiently manage international outside counsel. Work closely with Employee Relations Manager and Human Resource Directors, Managers, and Business Partners to advise on compliance with federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, and Title VII, as they pertain to all aspects of employment from recruiting to dismissal. Provide regular consultation and advice on Human Resources compliance matters such as Immigration, Contingent Workers, Records Retention, Diversity, OSHA, OFCCP, and other Federal Contractor obligations. Assist in all aspects of employment and workers compensation litigation and provide additional assistance on other non-employment litigation matters as needed. Identify and assist in necessary project completion, including but not limited to, policy and process edits and development as needed, throughout the company. Support other functions within the company as needed including payroll, security, healthcare, daycare, work life, corporate services, procurement, and related entities of SAS.

The candidate should have JD Degree from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law by being admitted to and a member in good standing of at least one State Bar. If not a member of the North Carolina Bar, be qualified for admission to the North Carolina Bar within the first year of employment. Must have experience with employment law. Should preferably have Licensed to practice law in North Carolina. Experience working with senior management in either public or private corporations is preferred. Experience working with international employment issues, in particular, with works councils and global change management is preferred. Litigation experience in the area of employment law is preferred.
