Employment And Compliance Counsel

Charlotte NC Employment and Compliance Counsel The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and technical expertise as an essential and valued team member and business partner. Work closely with other Legal team members, Human Resources and company business team on a full-spectrum of employment law and commercial issues, including, general advisory, recruiting and hiring, employment claims, employment-related compliance reporting, contract drafting and negotiation, transactions, employee benefits, compensation, policies and procedures, training and immigration. Provide in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters, which may include, but not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers compensation and other state and federal discrimination claims, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy related issues, FMLA matters, employment related litigation and generally assists the Americas General Counsel and Human Resources. Serve as a resource to the company s Legal Department and Human Resources on day-to-day employment issues and broader, strategic initiatives. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advises stakeholders accordingly. Independently handle legal matters and projects, as assigned. Recognize when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the Americas General Counsel and when to seek outside legal expertise. Draft position statements and manage and resolve state and federal agency charges of discrimination or other alleged statutory violations. Supervise, manage and evaluate outside counsel on employment related matters. Responsible for training and development of stakeholders and managers on employment matters, including support of functional areas in creating, drafting and managing policies and procedures. J.D. from an accredited law school and bar admission in any jurisdiction the United States required. 4 - 7 years of substantive labor and employment experience with a nationally recognized firm or corporate legal department required. Strong analytical skills; ability to efficiently analyze employment-related issues and effectively identify solutions required. Demonstrated: teamwork and communication skills; commercial instinct and thinking required. Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality of service required. Corporate legal department experience strongly preferred.
