Employment And Compliance Counsel

Charlotte NC Employment and Compliance Counsel The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and technical expertise as an essential and valued team member and business partner. Work closely with other Legal team members, Human Resources and company business team on a full-spectrum of employment law and commercial issues, including, general advisory, recruiting and hiring, employment claims, employment-related compliance reporting, contract drafting and negotiation, transactions, employee benefits, compensation, policies and procedures, training and immigration. Provide in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters, which may include, but not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers compensation and other state and federal discrimination claims, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy related issues, FMLA matters, employment related litigation and generally assists the Americas General Counsel and Human Resources. Serve as a resource to the company s Legal Department and Human Resources on day-to-day employment issues and broader, strategic initiatives. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advises stakeholders accordingly. Independently handle legal matters and projects, as assigned. Recognize when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the Americas General Counsel and when to seek outside legal expertise. Draft position statements and manage and resolve state and federal agency charges of discrimination or other alleged statutory violations. Supervise, manage and evaluate outside counsel on employment related matters. Responsible for training and development of stakeholders and managers on employment matters, including support of functional areas in creating, drafting and managing policies and procedures. J.D. from an accredited law school and bar admission in any jurisdiction the United States required. 4 - 7 years of substantive labor and employment experience with a nationally recognized firm or corporate legal department required. Strong analytical skills; ability to efficiently analyze employment-related issues and effectively identify solutions required. Demonstrated: teamwork and communication skills; commercial instinct and thinking required. Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality of service required. Corporate legal department experience strongly preferred. Counsel, Litigation And Compliance

Charlotte NC Counsel, Litigation and Compliance The candidate will provide legal support on a wide variety of litigation matters, including general liability, risk liability, labor and employment disputes. Will handle various types of investigations, including regulatory and other governmental inquiries, counseling, and compliance services. Responsible for development and implementation of strategies for the cost-efficient resolution of litigation and for the continuous improvement of legal compliance by the company. Provide practical legal advice, counsel, and support to all departments of the company to monitor and resolve various litigation and legal compliance issues including, but not limited to, labor and employment, risk/general litigation, and regulatory compliance matters. Decide litigation tactics and details by directing outside counsel through the litigation process. Prepare for and participate in the resolution process of disputes (e.g., risk/general, governmental investigation, employment). Identify legal risks in company activities and planning for minimization of those risks while balancing those risks against business opportunities. Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations, and assure legal compliance. Assist in developing and conducting preventative law programs for company employees. Manage and oversee discovery coordination, responses related to government inquiries and third-party subpoenas. Provide direction and oversight on electronic discovery collection, holds, and compliance. Work on legal compliance projects and other special projects, including but not limited to, new policies, trainings, templates and processes. Assist in conducting internal investigations into any allegations of violations of law or company policies. Conduct periodic audits of compliance programs and analyze results to propose revisions to compliance procedures and policies if needed. Update legal department on developments in the industry regarding key emerging legal and compliance risks and trends.

The candidate must have Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission and in good standing to at least one State Bar. Should have 5-7 years of experience. In-house experience preferred. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written is needed.
