Senior Counsel - Contracts Specialist

Houston TX Senior Counsel - Contracts Specialist The candidate will be managing, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. Performing legal research on legal issues related to contracts and business strategy. Working closely with AIG Life and Retirement attorneys to address legal, regulatory and compliance issues of all types related to privacy, real estate, intellectual property, and procurement. Assisting with the implementation of AIG Life and Retirement policies and guidelines associated with purchasing of data, content, and services.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor; U.S. State Bar admission; 5 or more years of legal experience with a law firm and/or in-house. Broad experience relating to legal issues confronting insurance and financial services companies. Experience negotiating and drafting contracts and advising clients with contractual interpretation and understanding. Knowledge of relevant issues that require negotiation in corporate contracts, including privacy, cybersecurity, limitations of liability, indemnification, and other key provisions. Ability to develop and manage relationships with multiple clients. Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively with peers and internal clients across a complex organization as well as independently (including remotely). Demonstrated experience working within aggressive timeframes. Eager to learn, grow, develop and be part of an industry-leading organization. Skilled at teamwork as well as the ability to produce individual work products. Dallas TX Corporate Counsel - Contracts The candidate will review, interpret, draft, revise and negotiate commercial contracts and a wide variety of non-commercial contracts, including IT, supply chain, operations, indirect procurement, distribution, consulting and nondisclosure agreements. Conduct legal research on various topics including contractual provisions. Provide support to other lawyers in the legal department, as needed. Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related business areas, keep abreast of relevant legislative changes and provide strategic legal advice to management. Anticipate issues, estimate risks strategically and identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks.

The candidate should have a JD from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one State (preferably Texas). Should have 3-7 years of legal practice experience with a law firm and/or in-house legal department. Excellent communication skills, including writing and speaking English fluently. Ability to work effectively with colleagues and outside counsel and gain their respect. Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance. Demonstration of sound business ethics and consistent adherence to, and promotion of, these ethics in all business and personal transactions.
