Insurance Trial Attorney - Pip

Orlando FL Insurance Trial Attorney - PIP The candidate should have 2 years of trial experience, preferably in insurance defense, and a proven track record of defending insurance carriers in the challenging environment of Personal Injury Protection Litigation. As a Trial Attorney with firm, draft pleadings, handle depositions, attend hearings, argue motions, and negotiate settlements in the interest of company. Handle a full caseload of minimal to moderate complex matters representing company. Communicate and report to the internal Client and Claims associates on progress of litigation, strategy, and evaluation. Assist Claims associates as requested in resolving cases against company by settlement and/or trial. Develop and maintain all strategies from pre-trial through post-trial and conduct appeals when appropriate. Participate in training Claims personnel regarding litigation and the law as requested. Review case law and statutory changes to maintain current knowledge of the law and to report on emerging legal trends.

The candidate should have Strong academic background and a Juris Degree (JD) from an American Bar Association-accredited law school. Must have 2-6 years of experience as a practicing litigation attorney licensed in Florida. Experience with P.I.P. litigation required; additional experience with tort / bodily injury litigation strongly preferred. Active license to practice law in the state of Florida is required. Successful experience in dealing with people where conflict and controversy exists is required.

Tampa FL Insurance Defense Attorney The candidate will represent the Company and its policyholders in civil litigation matters involving claims for money damages or compensation for personal injury or property damage of a moderate value with moderately complex legal issues. Will handle a full case load of personal injury cases while providing guidance and counsel to clients through effective communication. Will use Litigation Protocols to develop and revise appropriate legal strategy for discovery, investigation, handling and trial/hearing of cases or matters; advises communicate and develop those strategies and personally meet with Company Claims Representatives and insured Clients to render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and advice. Understand and creatively use technology; apply technology to the process of law to improve quality and reduce cost. Possess the skills necessary to use technology to work remotely. Capable of working with office staff who are remotely located. Will conduct necessary and appropriate discovery, hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations and similar proceedings. Researches the law applicable to cases or matters; drafts legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs and opinions as required. If requested, conducts settlement negotiations. Remains current with developments in the law; understands medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering or similar issues and defenses involved with cases or matters. Prepares and conducts training sessions for the Legal, Claims or other departments as required. Completion of law school with LLB or JD and admission to the bar in Florida. Special license to practice before a particular board or federal court may be necessary. 1 successful year experience as an attorney. A general knowledge of insurance law and specific understanding of the operations and requirements of insured clients, customers and the company. The ability to effectively communicate and persuade by written or spoken word is critical. Experience and ability appropriate to the level of cases or matters handled.
