Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are returning to the United Kingdom with their two children. The move marks a major change after years of life in California.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in the U.K. on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Their return follows the couple’s recent plan to move their family back to Britain.
Sussex Family Starts New U.K. Chapter
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal roles nearly six years ago.
The couple moved to California in 2020. They later made Montecito their main home. Since then, they have built their own business and charity work.
However, the move does not mean they will return to royal duties.
Instead, the couple plans to live a private life. They will also continue their work in both the U.K. and the U.S.
Children May Start School in Britain
Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are expected to start school in the U.K. in September.
The couple has kept details about their children’s school private. They also plan to live in a private home in Britain.
Meanwhile, the family is expected to keep its home in California. Harry and Meghan also have a home in Portugal.
Harry Keeps Strong U.K. Ties
Harry still has close ties to Britain through his charity work.
He supports groups such as Scotty’s Little Soldiers and WellChild. He also remains closely linked to the Invictus Games.
The 2027 Invictus Games will take place in Birmingham. As a result, living in the U.K. could make it easier for Harry to support the event.
No Return to Royal Duties
The family’s move does not restore Harry and Meghan as working royals.
They left their royal roles in 2020. Since then, they have focused on their own work and projects.
Meghan has also continued to develop her lifestyle brand, As Ever. She has other projects in progress as well.
Harry’s ties to the royal family remain a key topic. His relationship with his father, King Charles, has reportedly improved. However, his relationship with Prince William remains strained.
A New Path for the Sussexes
The move marks a new chapter for Harry and Meghan.
They are not returning as working royals. Instead, they plan to build a private life in Britain while keeping ties to the U.S.
The move may also give Harry more time with his family in Britain. At the same time, it could support his charity work and other U.K. projects.
For the Sussexes, the return creates a new balance between family life and their public roles. It also brings them closer to the country where Harry grew up.
