Vice President Federal Government Affairs Duties: Play a significant leading role in developing and implementing federal advocacy and legislative strategies that align with business priorities; help to build company reputation and enhance long-term objectives as a health care innovation company through complex advocacy and campaign strategies. Will have a deep understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes, relationships with policy makers, key committee staff members, third party policy experts and experience with shaping messages that resonate with grass tops and grassroots audiences. S/he will help oversee political action committee activity/programs and develop PAC strategies. Working on health care policy, tax reform priorities, infrastructure issues and trade and data security will also be a large focus for the role. Partner with State Government Affairs and the Public Policy teams to align priorities and efforts and maximize resources. Will be in charge of the federal government affairs team and contract lobbyists/consultants in monitoring and evaluating pending federal legislation, political and policy activity; collaborating with business units to determine the impact on the organization; developing a response in conjunction with policy and implementing a coordinated response to legislation. In conjunction with government and public affairs, will develop a strategic federal legislative plan that prioritizes issues and shapes public policy to support the company s advocacy/reputation agenda. Responsible for identifying, coordinating and building relationships with trade associations, coalitions, third-party influencers and internal teams to implement the integrated plan and represent the company s position at external events. Will work as a strategic partner with senior management to provide counsel on the opportunities and challenges within the federal political landscape. Will help shape the company s external point-of-view to enhance understanding of the company s forward leaning government affairs program. S/he will work in collaboration with the corporate communications team to develop messaging in support of the company s public policy objectives. Will work in collaboration with the State Government Affairs team to develop and implement a PAC plan to increase individual voluntary contributions and maximize the effectiveness of disbursements to key supporters. Will oversee a consistent and coordinate communications and outreach strategy with federal policymakers. Will help define and drive measures of success for government and public affairs.

Qualifications: BA required; MBA/JD/MPH preferred. 10+ years of relevant experience required. Health care experience. Experience in the Federal Government (Legislative and/or Executive Branch). Political experience and political giving. Experience devising multifaceted issue campaigns and advancing advocacy strategies to a positive conclusion on behalf of an organization or member of Congress. Preferred: Capitol Hill experience, Government, Corporate, Association.
