Assistant General Counsel Employment Law The candidate will be part of Office of General Counsel. Led by the General Counsel, OGC consists of approximately 20 people, including lawyers, accountants and legal assistants. This role would report to a Deputy General Counsel. Would review employment policies and processes pertaining to Global personnel as well as leave administration, manage and oversee employment litigation, e-discovery processes, dispute resolution, government and internal investigations and audits in relation to employment matters. Would provide counsel on risk prevention and management, litigation matters, restructuring, reductions in force, mergers and acquisitions and strategic business decisions in the employment realm. Would conduct employee and manager training, collaborate with Global HR to advise on best practices, and work with Global HR and MFs on personnel arrangements such as assignment agreements, employment agreements, service agreements with a personnel aspect. The Assistant General Counsel will provide counsel on high level employee relations issues, misconduct, disciplinary actions, employee terminations, hiring and contracts, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, employee benefits, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, and other restrictive covenants. Review employment policies and processes pertaining to Global personnel as well as leave administration, manage and oversee employment litigation, e-discovery process, dispute resolution, government and internal investigations and audits in relation to employment matters. Provide counsel on risk prevention and management, litigation matters, restructuring, reductions in force, mergers and acquisitions and strategic business decisions in the employment realm. Conduct employee and manager training, collaborate with Global HR to advise on best practices, and work with Global HR and members firms on personnel arrangements such as assignment agreements, employment agreements, and service agreements with a personnel aspect. The Assistant General Counsel role requires significant leadership in developing creative legal thinking and solutions to cross-border challenges. Must be an excellent cross-cultural communicator who can use appropriate (and varied) interpersonal skills with Member Firm leaders to provide legal and strategic counsel and guidance. The nature of this advisory and counselor role in combination with the organization and Member Firm structures means that this role has no direct reports. Nevertheless, the Assistant General Counsel works directly with various levels of personnel and contributes to people development across the company network.

The candidate should have J.D. and current bar admission. Must have 8+ years as a practicing lawyer. Should have experience in a professional services firm as an advisor on legal and policy matters. Will have experience with PCAOB/SEC enforcement from the investigatory, litigation, and policy perspectives. Cross-border experience preferred. Experience: Experience in the litigation of employment-related cases. Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating various employment, services and secondment agreements and policies related to employment matters. Experience interfacing with government employment agencies which maintain jurisdiction over employment-related legal matters.
