Sr Counsel - Labor & Employment The candidate will provide counsel on high level employee relations issues, such as hiring, progressive discipline and other disciplinary actions, including terminations,, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, employee benefits, non-compete, non-solicitation agreements, and other employment-related contracts. Prepare the Company s responses to state and federal administrative charges of discrimination, including conducting witness interviews, gathering documents and drafting the Company s position statement and responses to document requests. Oversee and coordinate the Company s Internal Investigations process and protocols, coordinating with Human Resources and other business units; provide legal guidance and training on internal investigations. Review and provide guidance on employment-related policies and procedures. Prepare and negotiate severance/separation agreements. Provide employment legal training to Human Resources and various business units. Respond to employment-related subpoenas and other requests for information from third-parties. Manage and oversee outside counsel in employment-related litigations, including efficiently managing outside counsel costs and fees and advising the various business units on strategy and mitigation of risks. Work collaboratively with other in house counsel as needed on other matters, including non-employment matters. JD and 7+ years of legal experience in labor and employment law required. Knowledge of California employment laws is a plus. Member of the New York bar preferred. Experience in a corporate Legal department preferred. The ability to work as an impactful results-oriented business partner in a fast-paced dynamic environment by giving practical, reasoned, and balanced legal advice required. Strong analytical, writing and strong communication/presentation skills, including drafting, negotiating, general counseling and influencing required.
