Investments / Real Estate Counsel The candidate provides legal advice to appropriate representatives of the company. Provides legal services on behalf of the company. Analyzes legal problems, interprets laws and regulations. Anticipates and responds effectively to client's needs and actively assists clients by practicing preventive law. Primary job responsibilities include counseling company on: (i) commercial mortgage loan transactions; (ii) the acquisition, development and sale of investment real estate; (iii) fixed income and private placement investments; (iv) private equity investments; and (v) laws and regulations impacting the investment activities of an insurer. The candidate should have superior academic credentials. Must have experience in representing financial institutions in complex commercial mortgage loan transactions and construction loans. Should have experience in counseling financial institutions on purchases and sales of commercial real estate and real estate construction and development issues. Advanced document drafting skills associated with commercial mortgage loan and real estate transactions essential. An understanding of real estate joint venture transactions and financial relationships between investors required. An understanding of private equity investments is a must. Experience in fixed income and private placement investments needed. An understanding of limited liability company and partnership organizational structures and governance is a prerequisite. Should have an awareness of current economic trends and laws and regulations impacting the investment activities of insurers and institutional investors. Knowledge of company structure, general departments is essential. Advanced knowledge of legal principles and practices related to the subject matter of the attorney's area of practice and/or leadership management skills is required. Must have active license to practice law in at least one state. Travel may be required via commercial transportation or driving to job related activities.
