Corporate Counsel - Privacy & Data Governance The candidate will advise the Company on matters in the rapidly-evolving areas of privacy and data governance, where the Company is facing novel and cutting-edge privacy issues relating to connected cars, big data analytics, and cross-border data access and transfers. Work closely with the relevant business areas and affiliated companies to advise regarding U.S. legal requirements, review and advise on contracts, and to assist the Assistant General Counsel for Privacy, Data Governance & eDiscovery in developing and implementing privacy and data governance strategy and compliance policies and procedures. Also assist with eDiscovery matters and the continued development of and enhancements to company eDiscovery processes and infrastructure. Advise the Company in connection with products and projects that raise issues of privacy, data protection and data governance under U.S. and EU laws. Assist in developing Privacy-By-Design strategies for digital marketing products, business analytics, and connected car technologies. Assist in developing and managing Company s formal privacy program, including development and management of governance policies and procedures, compliance materials, and employee training. Conduct privacy risk assessments and audits on individual business use cases and overall business risk areas. Review and advise on Company contracts impacting privacy and data governance. Manage data governance policies, keeping them current in light of recent legal developments. Assist with coordinating data governance initiatives with internal stakeholders. Assist with incident and breach response as needed. Coordinate with responsible business units and counterparts in the Legal departments in Germany, Canada, and Mexico. Advise on eDiscovery matters, including continuing development of and enhancements to eDiscovery processes and infrastructure. Bachelor and Law Degrees from top-tier institutions and 12+ years of experience required. Communication skills; Analytical skills; Computer savvy required. Membership in good standing in the State Bar, or qualifications to become admitted without examination as the state Corporate Counsel required. German Language Skills preferred. Automotive Industry experience preferred. IAPP Certification/s preferred. Privacy compliance experience, particularly on IoT issues preferred. eDiscovery Experience preferred.
