Counsel-Government Relations and Political Law Attorney The candidate will be responsible for advising and supporting Company on a wide range of government relations matters including support for Federal Government Relations, State and Local Government Relations, Regulatory Relations, External Relations, Public Policy and Political Programs. Assisting with various requests for information from government agencies and Congressional offices in support of the Company s government relations activities. Providing political law guidance on federal and state campaign finance, lobbying, gift, PAC, pay-to-play, ethics and conflict-of-interest issues. Legal support related to corporate social responsibility activities including philanthropic activities, environmental affairs, diversity and inclusion and community relations.
The candidate should have active State Bar membership should have 2+ years of experience as a practicing attorney. Experience with federal pay-to-play regulations such as SEC Rule 206(4)-5, CFTC Rule 23.451 and MSRB Rules G37/38. Knowledge and understanding of research, counsel and guidance on complex legal questions or inquiries are needed. Ability to analyze legal issues in substantive law in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on routine legal matters are require. Ability to serve as a subject matter expert on a wide range of government relations and political law matters affecting bank activities and work with other areas of the Company in responding to those matters . Experience collaborating and communicating with government agencies and public officials at a local, state and Federal level. Ability to analyze federal and state campaign finance, lobbying, gift, PAC, pay-to-play, ethics and conflict-of-interest laws and regulations and counsel clients on those laws and regulations. Ability to quickly and effectively analyze complex laws and regulations as well as the external risk environment. Ability to succinctly communicate effective solution-based legal advice, taking legal risk and business objectives into consideration. Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, professional staff and clients in providing legal advice, and to operate successfully in a horizontal fashion across a legal group or similar professional organization.
