Division Counsel, IP Litigation The candidate will be responsible for managing an exciting variety of complex intellectual property litigation matters both inside and outside of the U.S. including, patent and trademark matters. Collaborate with business leaders to develop litigation strategies that will be successful and optimize business opportunities. Select, supervise and direct outside counsel in execution of strategies in matters of significant impact. Develop and maintain case and function budgets. Counsel clients in all areas of the business and highest levels of management on legal issues, litigation strategy, and dispute resolution. Identify highly complex legal issues and propose alternative solutions. Regularly negotiate independently with customers, suppliers, competitors or government agencies on matters of strategic importance on matters of significant importance to business. Resolve complex legal issues. Lead cross-functional projects. Mentor, coach and supervise other attorneys, serve as role model and as champion of legal department through work ethic, attitude, interpersonal skills and successful results. Play key role in selecting, recruiting and developing attorneys and support staff, including performance management and developmental planning. Manage assigned support staff in their responsibilities. A JD degree and have or be able to obtain appropriate licensure to practice law in Illinois required. 10+ years of experience required. In-house experience and experience in representing medical device, pharmaceutical and/or nutritional industries strongly preferred.
