CJD Immigration Attorney The candidate will provide intake, advice and counseling, and direct legal representation to clients in immigration matters with a focus on the following benefits: U Visas, T Visas, VAWA, family-based and humanitarian immigration petitions, waivers, adjustments of status, and consular processing. Will coordinate client services with case managers, supervising attorney, social worker, and legal interns. Organize and maintain client files and data for reporting. Participate in regular peer and supervisor review meetings and legal trainings. Contribute to grant proposals, reports and periodic communications pieces. Collaborate with other agencies and service providers to procure client services and network with like-minded organizations. Participate in outreach activities and information sessions for immigrants and social service agencies. Outreach may require occasional evening and weekend events. Provide hands-on mentorship, training and oversight to pro-bono attorneys and legal interns. Perform all other duties as needed and/or as directed by supervisor including airport pickup of newly arrived refugees.
The candidate must have a JD degree from ABA certified law school or international equivalent. Should have a current bar membership in good standing. Must have 2+ years of experience in immigration law assisting immigrants with U-Visas. VAWA self-petitions, family visa petitions, waivers, DACA, etc. are preferred. Law school experience will be considered. Should have fluency in English and Spanish language.
