Senior Counsel - Labor and Employment The candidate will report to the Managing Counsel, Global Labor and Employment. Will have substantial responsibility for managing employment disputes from initial complaint to mediation, arbitration, trial or settlement. Working with company's business operations and support functions, other L&E staff members in the US, other company attorneys, and outside counsel, responsible for providing employment law advice and support to HR and company's business operations on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the ADA, ADEA, WARN Act, FMLA, Fair Credit Reporting Act, PDA, equal pay laws, and a wide range of other employment law issues. Advise and provide training on HR policies and business practices. Provide oversight of HR investigations and work closely with the lawyers of the Code of Business Conduct of company's Ethics and Compliance Department. Manage outside counsel and a large docket working with the Litigation Department as necessary.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree from accredited law school. State Bar membership in good standing is required. Must have 10+ years of experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and competency with a law firm or corporate legal department. Experience with employment dispute resolution programs, including arbitrations, is preferred. Experience working for a multinational company or representation of a multinational company is desired. Prior in house experience extremely helpful. Prior litigation experience is a plus. Should have knowledge of employment laws.
