Legal Counsel - Medical Insurance Laws & Regulations The candidate will provide legal advice and support for its fully insured group medical operations. Will be responsible for providing counsel on nationwide insurance and regulatory matters for fully insured group medical insurance. Will be providing advice on benefit coverage, claim handling, underwriting and agent issues. Will be interpreting medical Insurance laws and regulations as pertaining to healthcare and medical. Will be drafting and reviewing company policies and procedures. Will preparation, interpretation and negotiation of contracts and other legal documents.
The candidate should have 3-8 years of medical insurance legal and regulatory experience with a healthcare insurance company, or in a law firm where the primary responsibility is working with healthcare law and health insurance law, insurance and regulations. Should have Juris Doctor degree from ABA accredited law school. Should have active membership in a state bar association./ should have strong communication, legal writing, research and analytical skills. Should have ability to work independently under general supervision and in team settings. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of major employee benefits laws and related laws/regulations and apply this knowledge to situations, inquiries and document preparation. Should have excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with and positively influence others.
