Attorney - Employment The candidate will assist with various legal matters for UHS and its subsidiaries. Will monitor and respond to incoming employment law requests and inquiries including agency charges (EEOC, DOL, OSHA, etc.) and attorney demand letters. Provide support to UHS and facility HR departments; dentifies and analyzes legal issues related to employment matters including wage and hour issues. Prepare and provide case law research and analysis and drafts various correspondence. Presents clear recommendations, and assures legal compliance for company employment issues which may include investigation and disciplinary decisions. Manage litigation or arbitration and/or works with outside employment counsel on various employment related matters. Provide assistance on other miscellaneous matters as deemed appropriate and necessary by supervising attorney. Effectively manages a high volume caseload of agency charges relating to employment matters (EEOC, DOL, state human rights agencies) as well as other healthcare compliance matters (OSHA, OCR). Manage and oversees preparation of responses to such charges and attorney demand letters, providing relevant information and documentation to defend the company s position against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliatory discharge and/or alleged wage and hour violations, as needed. Coordinates and represents the company in mediation efforts when appropriate. Reviews and/or prepares employment related documents including but not limited to employment agreements, staffing contracts and settlement agreements. Provides advice and counsel to the field in connection with employment issues including policy implementation and interpretation, operational decisions, pay practices, layoffs and disciplinary decisions. Manages and coordinates with outside counsel for litigation, administrative and regulatory matters as needed. Researches and prepares legal opinions concerning employment law and compliance.

The candidate should have Law Degree with 5+ years of experience as an attorney and be admitted into the state Bar. Should have strong knowledge of laws, regulations and issues relative to employment law, human resource compliance, administrative agency charge processing and a general understanding of the healthcare industry. Strong background in legal research and writing is essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential. Must have excellent communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
