Employment Counsel The candidate will provide valued legal counsel across the Reyes family of businesses with respect to any number of federal, state and local employment law topics. Position Responsibilities may include: Providing knowledgeable and practical legal advice to human resources professionals regarding day-to-day legal concerns and consequences, including discipline, counseling and discharge, non-discrimination, non-harassment, wage and hour practices, and government contractor compliance requirements; Responding to attorney letters and administrative charges involving employment-related concerns; Providing guidance to human resources professionals on ADA interactive process discussions and FMLA compliance; Drafting and negotiating Separation Agreements and OWBPA disclosures; Responding to employment-related subpoenas; Managing outside counsel in handling employment litigation and reducing the costs associated with outside counsel, as needed; Maintaining working knowledge of company policies and federal, state and local legislation; Advising human resources departments and operating business managers on pending changes in employment laws.
The candidate should have Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from a respected law school, with a strong academic record. Must have 5+ years of experience as an employment attorney, which ideally combines law firm training with in-house counsel experience on a wide range of employment matters and employment litigation. Admission to a U.S. state Bar with an active license, and compliance with requirements for in-house practice in the State of Illinois is needed. Should have excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
