Counsel - Litigation

Counsel Litigation The candidate will represent firm in all aspects of litigation, including first chairing trials and arbitrations. Will engage in early dispute resolution through negotiated settlements. Manage outside counsel where outside counsel is needed. Manage firm s relationship with insurers on litigations and negotiate coverage of insurable claims. Share knowledge from litigations across the Legal department. Oversee support staff, including senior paralegal and administrative assistant, with respect to document management, fact and claims investigation, management and payment of outside counsel and vendor costs. Assess litigation budget. Represent firm at business and industry functions. Must have JD degree from accredited law school and NY Bar admission. NJ Bar Admission is preferred. Should have 5+ years of litigation experience at a law firm or government agency. Experience drafting pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions; performing legal research; appearing and arguing in court; serving as first or second chair in trial or arbitration; preparing settlement agreements is must. Experience working on a litigation team; client management skills is required. Intellectual property (including copyright), breach of contract, and First Amendment litigation experience is desired. Experience managing multiple cases is helpful. Experience supervising associates and paralegals in litigations is a plus.
