Associate General Counsel - Intellectual Property The candidate will develop and implement patent strategies to protect innovations. Will manage state-of-the-art patent searches for new product opportunities. Create and manage processes for patent prosecution, clearances, and other activities to assist with developing and launching new products. Draft or manage the drafting of clearance opinions. Manage patent estate and associated maintenance / annuities. Create and manage processes for filing and prosecuting trademarks. Draft agreements involving the transfer or licensing of intellectual property. Manage IP-related disputes, including litigation and oppositions. Conduct IP-related due diligence in connection with M&A. Manage outside counsel to complete projects in a timely, efficient, and successful manner. Understand firm s current and planned business strategies, products, and markets and the relevant IP-related legal trends, laws, and regulations. JD degree required (registration before a state bar required) is needed. Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is essential. Should have 10+ years of experience in patent procurement and prosecution, product clearances, and ancillary areas, including IP-related dispute resolution. Previous work at law firms and in-house is needed. Knowledge of and experience with IP matters in the field of medical devices is essential. Knowledge of and experience with electrical engineering and hardware and software systems. Proficiency with IP-related software and on-line tools is needed. Extremely bright, with strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling this person to be persuasive and able to communicate efficiently and effectively with others is needed.
