Compliance Counsel Duties: Monitor assigned areas of United States federal and state laws affecting financial institutions. Perform research and analysis on issues and draft legal updates for distribution to financial institutions. Work cross-functionaly in-house Product Legal group and with local counsel in all U.S. states as part of monitoring and analyzing state and federal law issues and responding to customer issues. Provide guidance for the design and maintenance of sophisticated software solutions offered by . Recommend and write requirements for necessary legal changes to existing software solutions. Analyze and respond to questions and inquiries from staff, customers, and customer s legal counsel concerning product issues. Provide professional support in area of expertise to departments and employees. Prepare compliance communications and participate in compliance speaking/training opportunities. Provide thought leadership through article writing, and presenting at and participating in educational programs and seminars. Help achieve organizational goals by meeting minimum standards for the department and having knowledge of policies and procedures. Perform activities necessary to maintain state bar admission and/or CRCM designation.
Qualifications: Law degree and a bar admission in any U.S. state. CRCM designation strongly preferred. 2-5 years legal practice, including experience researching and interpreting United States federal and state statutes and regulations related to financial institutions. Financial Institution Compliance Management System management strongly preferred. Banking or lending experience preferred. Experience using legal research software and conducting internet legal research. Law review experience preferred. Experience communicating complex legal information in a clear, understandable, and informative manner. Knowledge of federal consumer protection laws and regulations affecting FFIEC-regulated financial institutions. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Must be computer proficient. Strong presentation skills to small groups and larger audiences. Strong research and analytical skills. Ability to make independent decisions using sound judgment; communicate complex information in a clear, understandable, and informative manner. Ability to work with employees, customers, outside counsel, and outside agencies in a professional manner. Ability to work well independently as well as in a team.
