Privacy Attorney The candidate will counsel clients in all aspects of domestic and international privacy, data security, and cybersecurity laws and regulations (including at least familiarity with the General Data Protection Regulation). Will support incident response, vendor management, and a fast-paced sales organization with advice on data privacy and security issues and regulatory compliance requirements. Draft and negotiate privacy, security, and data protection provisions for customer and vendor agreements. Assist business teams in incorporating privacy by design into products and services. Review data protection impact assessments for consumer and corporate products and services, internal applications and programs, and human resources. Track and advise on global privacy and security legislation, evolving regulations, and enforcement. Support public policy team. Draft and socialize data protection policies and procedures and support other stakeholders where data use is a factor in developing policies and procedures. Operationalize data protection requirements by developing processes and workflows. Manage relationships with outside counsel and legal service providers, enforcing budget discipline and innovating to achieve cost and operational efficiency.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree with 7+ years of relevant experience. Active membership in at least one US State Bar and CIPP certification required. Must have strong substantive knowledge of international privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including consumer, human resources, and corporate regulations. Interest and general knowledge of technology and current trends in cybersecurity and data protection required. Experience in the computer industry and in-house legal work would be an advantage, as would CISSP certification.
