Immigration Supervisory Staff Attorney The candidate will review and prepare various immigration applications (naturalization, derivative citizenship, family petitions: adjustment and consular processing, removal of conditions, fee waivers, disability waivers, lawful permanent residency renewal, freedom of information request, etc). Will sign G-28 as Attorney of record. Administer the Citizenship Program. Develop procedures and goals. Hire, supervise and train staff and assist with their professional development. Create and generate reports on Program outcomes/statistics and demographic information: including monthly reports of participants by Fund's and sworn-ins. Grant reports will be generated quarterly. Tax reports are generated annually. Track applicant cases and progress of applications including cases past due processing time. Must draft letters to applicants advising of immigration consequences. Consult applicants on various immigration issues (primarily naturalization). Provide referrals to authorized Community Based Organizations (CBO) for services not provided by the 1199SEIU Citizenship Program including family petitions, adjustments, consular, employment based petitions, work authorizations, deportations, etc. Evaluate the immigration consequences of criminal dispositions and advise clients accordingly. Represent in limited emergent cases and upon Fund approval individuals in hearings in U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. Attend Outreach meetings, Fund Days, Delegate Assemblies and Chapter meetings. Develop, draft and maintain documentation promoting programs, i.e. kits brochures, flyers, other promotional materials. Also coordinate annual Celebration of New U.S. Citizens event. Participate in coalition/advocacy work, which include networking and conferring with other immigration service providers, Community Based Organizations (CBO), Unions and immigration advocacy groups; Coalition/Advocacy Work/Stakeholder duties: Attend US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and stakeholder meetings, network and confer with other immigration service providers, CBO's, Union and Immigration Advocacy groups. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree and be a member of New York State Bar Association. Must have 5+ years of experience in an immigration service provider and criminal law work setting. Experience in an union or nonprofit environment preferred. Specialized knowledge of current immigration laws, regulations, forms and procedures of the naturalization process and the USCIS is required.
