Corporate Counsel - Labor & Employment Duties: Work on labor and employment law issues in the company, which include the following: Provide advice and counsel to Human Resources clients on matters implicating potential employment law considerations (including but not limited to compliance with Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family & Medical Leave Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act/Older Worker Benefits Protection Act; National Labor Relations Act; Fair Labor Standards Act; state wage/hour and non-discrimination and non-retaliation statutes) to effectively mitigate risks and achieve positive outcomes. Perform factual investigations, assess likelihood of liability, and draft responses to administrative agencies regarding employment, labor, and discrimination issues. Assist in overseeing outside counsel on single plaintiff litigation and responses to administrative charges and audits. Assist in ensuring compliance with legal hold obligations. Draft a variety of employment-related agreements including employment/non-competition/confidentiality agreements. Assist overseeing the Labor & Employment Department s budget, analyze financial performance of outside firms. Analyze and optimize the Labor & Employment Department s internal procedures to continuously maximize efficiency. Qualifications: JD Degree from accredited law school. Bar Admission to any state jurisdiction in the United States. 2-6 years of experience responding to charges from administrative agencies and handling employment litigation matters, preferably with unionized employees. Experience drafting policies, employee handbook, and various employment-related agreements. Excellent research, analytical, and drafting skills. Excellent written and oral communications skills. High proficiency in computer and software systems. Understanding of current agency (state and federal) enforcement techniques a plus. Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong and effective working relationships with internal clients, executives, outside counsel, governmental agencies. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as needed depending upon specific projects and areas of responsibility.
