Legal Counsel, Employment The candidate will support and report to the Deputy General Counsel of HR/Labor and Employment and Chief Privacy Officer and will provide day-to-day counseling and support on general employment matters including hiring and termination issues, harassment, discrimination and retaliation, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, wage and hour issues, employee investigations, etc. Will provide day-to-day advice on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, discharge, compensation and benefits, wage and hour, HR practices, performance management, terminations, discrimination, disability accommodation, wage and hour, non-compete and non-disclosure agreements, and other labor and employment issues, as well as independent contractor and third-party vendor issues. Embed with the company s HR teams to handle and support employee issues, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts, employment law claims and risk mitigation. Help create, implement, interpret and enforce world-class employment processes, policies and programs that balance legal risk with business impact. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional partners on complex projects to sustain and enhance employment law compliance. Coordinate and support audits and employment litigation responses to e-discovery, etc. as required. Advising Human Resources on employment law matters under federal and state laws (e.g., Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA). Monitoring legal developments to ensure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws. Assisting with internal investigations and working with the HR teams to address findings. Drafting and revising internal policies, documents and templates. Investigating employment law claims to respond to EEOC Charges, Federal and State Agency Charges, and Claims. Drafting responses to Charges and Claims and negotiating legal settlements. Conducting compliance training. Handling and responding to 3rd party subpoenas for employee records.

The candidate should have 5-7 years of relevant experience providing employee benefits to multiple stakeholders in a global, complex environment. Should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building effective partnerships across constituencies both internally within a matrixed environment and with outside counsel and to manage outside counsel legal spend. Should have from an accredited law school and active/in good standing Indiana bar license or the ability to become licensed in Indiana. Knowledge of Employment Law and Contract/Commercial Law is required. Collective Bargaining experience is required.
