Compliance Counsel

Compliance Counsel The candidate will have a cross-functional role focused primarily on ensuring that company operates with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and trustworthiness. Support the development, implementation and maintenance of company's compliance program. This includes conducting risk assessments, advising on compliance-related issues, handling compliance investigations, and management of training programs that promote employee understanding of and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Advise on risks and obligations that affect hospitals and health system and medical group clients such as: HIPAA and state privacy regulations; fraud & abuse regulations; anti-kickback laws and regulations; Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; and patient safety. Manage a high volume of compliance reports and project managing complex cases and investigations to successful resolutions. Independently investigate and act on compliance issues, including leading internal investigations and any resulting corrective actions with all company departments. Produce astute issue resolutions that support corporate strategy and ensure company service offering compliance. Travel to different company locations to administer compliance training, advise on compliance issues, or investigate issue reports on an as needed basis. Maintain the company's compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies. Develop and coordinate multifaceted educational compliance training programs. Create effective policies for appropriate response to non-compliant behavior by company employees, vendors, and clients. Engage with leadership in the development of a relevant, thorough, and geographically-minded compliance program. Prepare detailed compliance reports and presentations (including statistical analysis of issue reporting) for submission to management, the Audit Committee, and government agencies as necessary. Should have a J.D. degree from a well-recognized law school, with excellent academic credentials. Must have 2-4 years of experience in healthcare law or compliance, preferably at a large law firm. Strong legal research and writing skills are required.
