In-House Immigration Attorney The candidate will advise company and its affiliate companies on the full range of U.S. immigration matters, as well as occasional matters involving Canadian and Mexican immigration. Evaluate eligibility of employees for visa status, analyze and develop strategy and supporting evidence for immigration eligibility in complex cases, prepare and file employment-based nonimmigrant (primarily E-2, L-1, H-1B and TN cases) and immigrant petitions. Work with a team of paralegals to effectively manage relationships with internal business teams and customers. Explain sophisticated immigration concepts and present strategic solutions. Train Honda companies on I-9 and E verify processing and conduct audits for I-9 compliance. Lead company-wide projects involving immigration compliance. Stay abreast of all changes related to immigration regulations and procedures and ensure that Honda companies understand and implement such changes. Supervise in preparing packages for cases and effectively manage complex projects under tight deadlines. Continuously improve internal immigration procedures and processes.
A Juris Doctorate required; Must be willing to obtain licensure in Ohio. Should have 5 years of experience handling non-immigrant (H-1B, L-1, TN, E-2) and immigrant (employment based Permanent Residency) cases as a business immigration attorney practicing with a law firm, corporate legal department or government agency. Ability; Ability to advise on a broad range of business immigration matters. Ability to apply legal knowledge to business setting. Ability to gain consensus in a team environment. Ability to manage complex projects. Excellent teaching, presentation, research and communication skills are needed.
