Corporate Counsel - U.S. Legal The candidate will report directly to the Vice President & Group Counsel and will proactively provide legal guidance both in the U.S. and internationally around data protection and governance issues and assist the business by supporting data governance practices and policies; supporting the Information Security team; supporting the company Chief Privacy and Data Protection Officer; oversight of product development, and working with our new product innovation efforts to review unique data uses and align the uses with data governance and privacy principles. The Corporate Counsel will also negotiate, document and provide strategic direction and leadership on sophisticated, complex commercial and licensing agreements, as well as legal support on matters arising in day-to-day operations. Eill have the ability to think and act both strategically and tactically to support the business objectives while ensuring compliance with law, policies, and industry best practices. Provide legal guidance regarding data management, data governance, privacy, and information security in compliance with enterprise policies and initiatives, while enabling business growth and new innovation. Monitor legislative, regulatory, and industry developments in the areas of data management, data governance, privacy, and information security. Provide legal guidance to the business regarding data management, data governance, privacy, and information security policies and compliance programs and infrastructure. Work closely with the business and other internal and external legal counsels on supporting various initiatives with a focus on data management, data governance, privacy, and information security, including as those relate to new product development. Assist in developing training materials for employees on data management, data governance, privacy, and information security obligations. Serve as a legal liaison with U.S. and International legal teams and the company Transformation Office and Chief Privacy and Data Governance Officer including on topics relating to data governance and privacy. Analyze complex product and data use proposals in the context of contractual and enterprise governance parameters.
The candidate should have Law degree from ABA accredited law school and membership in good standing of any state bar; State Bar of Georgia is preferred. Should have 1 years of relevant experience, preferably at a large law firm and/or corporate legal department. Must have experience providing legal support for data management, data governance, privacy, and information security. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including licensing agreements, customer agreements and a general understanding of commercial transactions is required.
