Associate Director, Tax Counsel

Associate Director, Tax Counsel The candidate will be responsible for providing tax advisory and related implementation to all US business units in close cooperation with the tax operations and transfer pricing teams, business units, finance organization and other key stakeholders. Provide tax legal advice and guidance to Novartis U. S. country organization management and tax personnel, as well as Novartis affiliates Global tax personnel. Follow applicable U.S. federal and state tax legislation, research applicable law, and identify/analyze U.S. federal and state tax planning opportunities. Research international tax matters, and assist in advising on intercompany transfer pricing matters; assist with intercompany transfer pricing compliance and other international matters. Provide tax legal advice and assistance to tax compliance and tax audit functions. Work on acquisition and divestitures projects (including due diligence, structuring, reviewing and drafting tax provisions as well as integration). Perform special tax projects, as required. Contribution to Novartis tax strategy through optimal and compliant tax planning, including initiation, execution and risk management. Proactive Tax Planning and Tax Risk management at the forefront of upcoming changes in tax regulations and policies (national and international) Contribution to development of corporate tax team members Timeliness and accuracy of support and advice. The candidate should have J.D. and LLM in Taxation with additional qualifications in corporate tax law and admission to the Bar. English, other languages a plus. Must have 6+ years experience corporate tax planning with national/global law firm, big 4 accounting firm and/or in house experience.
