Corporate Counsel, Product The candidate will directly counsel product and engineering teams within the Technology and Products organization, providing legal support for product development, go-to-market, privacy, and data protection issues from development through launch and distribution. Will play an important role in shaping policies and processes to help the legal department scale as firm continues to grow, and to drive important compliance initiatives relating to product development, privacy, and data protection. The range of subject matters includes research and development, compliance, distribution, security, technology transactions, and integration of acquired product offerings. Provide guidance to product management teams on issues related to new and existing services, products, and features throughout the entire product lifecycle. Be a resident expert and resource on issues related to privacy and data protection as it relates to firm's platform, products, and services. Review and negotiate agreements with service providers and technology partners. Assist with acquisition and integration of products, content, services, and technologies, including due diligence and integration related to mergers and acquisitions. Provide counseling and training on relevant issues. Build cross-functional relationships with business teams as well as other members of the Legal Team to help drive efficient practices and consistency with internal policies and processes.

The candidate must have Undergraduate degree and a law degree from highly regarded schools. Should have 4+ years of combined experience in law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably in the technology industry, with significant product counseling experience. 2+ years negotiating and drafting technology license agreements is required. Experience with privacy and data protection issues and strong knowledge of global privacy laws, in particular GDPR is needed. Substantive expertise in the laws governing advertising technology, e-commerce, marketing, consumer protection laws, social media, and online tracking technology is must. Well-grounded knowledge of intellectual property law is essential. Familiarity with open source software licensing practices is preferred. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is a plus. Familiarity with NAI and DAA Guidelines is helpful.
