Associate Counsel - Employment Responsibilities: Reporting to the Corporate Counsel Employment to provide legal support in handling employment and litigation matters. Daily responsibilities of the position include handling employment claims/litigation and providing legal support to Human Resources and Operations Managers on matters involving employment and related laws such as Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA, GINA, the FMLA, the FLSA, WARN, USERRA, PDA, OFCCP, the EPA, state/local equivalent statutes, as well as supporting research and responses to questions in areas involving employment agreements, severance and reductions in force. Defend Company and all subsectors in local, state, and federal administrative agency claims, including: investigating background facts, interviewing witnesses, drafting position statements, handling requests for additional information, participating conferences/hearings, handling mediation/conciliation. Handle wage and hour individual claims and audits by state or federal agencies, including analysis of relevant documentation and applicable laws and preparation of appropriate responses. Assist in managing all aspects of employment and commercial litigation (from attorney demand letters through trial/appeal), including managing outside legal counsel while minimizing the Company s cost to defend and prosecute litigation. Provide internal advice and legal counsel to Operations Managers, Human Resources, the Human Resources Service Center, on various employment matters. Assist with oversight and administration of internal case tracking database, periodic reporting, and review of database for accuracy of reporting. Develop and deliver training related to areas of responsibility. Assist in management of paralegals and student interns as needed. Stay abreast of all existing, new, and proposed legislation related to employment matters at the federal, state and local levels (e.g., ADA, FMLA, FLSA, immigration reform and control, etc.).

Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school with accompanying state licensure. 2-3 years of experience preferred in the essential job duties described above. Excellent foundational knowledge of employment laws, rules, regulations and judicial precedent involved in the essential job duties described above. Proven ability and successes in the following: proactively seeking and executing creative solutions, providing strong customer service, and negotiating, partnering and communicating effectively with clients and colleagues. Ability to read, analyze and interpret laws, rules and regulations, legal documents, and financial and other reports, with expertise in the principles, practices, laws and regulations associated with employee relations. Ability to anticipate, recognize and define problems from both a legal and overall corporate perspective, collect data, establish facts, and draw logical and valid conclusions based on sound legal and business judgment. Excellent writing, research, technical, communication, organizational, data analysis and decision-making skills. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required. SAP and CounselLink experience preferred. Lexis or Westlaw experience preferred. Team player in a fast paced, high volume and constantly changing environment.
