Director and Senior Counsel, Law Center of Excellence (Privacy) The candidate will serve as lead privacy counsel for the enterprise as part of a multi-disciplinary team of legal subject matter experts in firm's Law Center of Excellence. Will be responsible for advising internal business partners, product advisory attorneys, and Corporate Compliance to ensure compliance with federal, state and international privacy and laws and regulations. Serve as a legal subject matter expert on all aspects of U.S. domestic and international privacy laws/regulations, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) (Regulation P), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (Reg V), the CAN-SPAM Act, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable state law. Provide actionable legal advice to facilitate achievement of business objectives with respect to the collection, sharing, usage and disclosure of non-public personal information (NPI) received or generated by firm's and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Partner with the business to develop strategic solutions to mitigate and, where possible, eliminate privacy related legal risks across the product life-cycle including: New business initiatives; Vendor relationships and third-party contracts; Marketing; Training; Regulatory exams; Risk assessments. Review and approval of policies and procedures. Data use and sharing. Review and advise on privacy policies and disclosures, ensuring adoption of industry best practices. Identify, assess and communicate legal and regulatory developments, and advise the business on best practices to comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Proactive management and disciplined use of outside counsel and other external resources. Provide proactive strategic leadership and guidance on privacy issues across the enterprise to drive partnership, knowledge-sharing and efficiency. Support company engagement with government, industry, and consumer groups on privacy issues. Advise on potential business impact of proposed changes to US, EU and other international privacy and data security laws and regulations. Review collection, use and transfers of user data and draft privacy policies and disclosures. Draft and negotiate privacy and data protection-related provisions of complex commercial and technology contracts. Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

The candidate should have Bachelor s degree, Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and license to practice law in Illinois. Must have 5+ years of relevant experience including consumer financial services legal advisory experience gained while employed at a financial institution, regulatory agency or law firm. Must have strong technical knowledge of all aspects of U.S. domestic and international privacy laws/regulations, including GLBA, Reg. P, TCPA, FCRA, Reg. V, CAN-SPAM Act, GDPR and applicable state law laws and regulations. Must have business-oriented professional with strong analytic skills, and the ability to suggest practical and innovative solutions around legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives. Experience with online, mobile and digital technology issues is required. Experience in other relevant consumer financial services laws such as UDAAP, fair lending, TILA, SCRA and MLA is a plus.
