Lead Senior Legal Counsel - Data Protection and Privacy Law

Lead Senior Legal Counsel - Data Protection and Privacy Law The candidate will support firm's Data Protection Officer in all areas of responsibility defined by law and internal policies. Will be responsible for, among other things, reviewing and advising on existing and new data processing operations, revising and drafting of policies and contract templates, advising on new business models, providing qualified data protection support to internal customers of SAP, identifying and analyzing complex data protection issues with solution-oriented focus while pragmatically balancing risks, promoting awareness for data protection risks, collaborating seamlessly the wider organization and for representing SAP in administrative and court procedures. Contribute to defining firm's data protection and privacy strategy and support firm's worldwide business, operational and development teams with respect to all aspects of data protection and privacy law, including also related areas of law such as e.g. telecommunications and tele media laws as well as other upcoming laws (e-privacy regulation). The candidate must be US-qualified lawyer with superior academic credentials. Must have excellent working knowledge of contract law, US privacy laws and European data protection and privacy laws, telecommunications law. Good knowledge of other legal areas relevant to the IT industry, e.g. intellectual property laws, M&A. Desire and ability to familiarize yourself in other areas of law. Must have fluency in English. Must have excellent written and oral skills, the ability to present and communicate effectively. Demonstrated proficiency in the areas of European and international data protection beneficial. Proficiency in other languages, German beneficial. Should preferably have 3+ years working experience at least in a law firm specialized in data protection and privacy law and IT law, in the legal department and/or the data protection office of an IT company, or equivalent.
